Dr. Laurens earned both her Bachelor of Health Science (B.H.S.) in communication sciences and disorders and Doctorate of Audiology (Au.D.) from the University of Florida (UF). While attending, she participated in an exchange program at La Trobe University, in Australia, with the Department of Community and Clinical Allied Health.
Dr. Laurens also worked for the University of Florida’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute where she assisted with the development and implementation of the UF Study Connect program, in collaboration with the four university institutional review boards. She also trained new team members in various aspects of data collection and quality assurance protocols for research.
Dr. Laurens went on to work at South Florida ENT Associates in Miami, Florida. Her work included comprehensive audiological evaluations on patients of all ages, as well as assisting patients with hearing aid selections, fittings, and follow-up care.
In addition, Dr. Laurens volunteered with UF’s Student Academy of Audiology Project in Yucatan, Mexico. She helped to provide hearing screenings for over one thousand patients from underserved communities during the week-long medical mission trip. Dr. Laurens experience has motivated her to help people better connect with one another via better hearing health.
In her free time, Dr. Laurens enjoys relaxing in her new home in Ormond Beach, attending community events, and staying active.
